    Silver Alerts
    February 11, 2018
Silver Alert is an Amber Alert for missing seniors. Silver Alert is a public notification system in the United States to broadcast information about missing persons – especially seniors with Alzheimer’s Disease, dementia or other mental disabilities – in order to aid in their return. Silver Alerts use a wide array of media outlets—such as commercial radio stations, television stations, and cable TV—to broadcast information about missing persons. Silver Alerts also use variable-message signs on roadways to alert motorists to be on the lookout for missing seniors. In cases in which a missing person is believed to have gone missing on foot, Silver Alerts have used Reverse 911 or other emergency notification systems to notify nearby residents of the neighborhood surrounding the missing person’s last known location. Supporters of Silver Alert point to America’s growing elderly population as a reason to support new programs to locate missing seniors. Approximately 6 in 10 dementia victims will wander at least once, health care statistics show, and the numbers are growing worldwide, fueled primarily by Alzheimer’s disease. If not found within 24 hours, up to half of wandering seniors with dementia suffer serious injury or death Visit Their Site Silver Alerts Website

The UAS SAR Resource Web Site
    May 1, 2018
When you think about it, search and rescue (SAR) volunteers are a special breed of people. They're big hearted people who dedicate their time and efforts in a search for a complete stranger; the epitome of selflessness.  SAR has many facets to it and each one is a specialty unto itself.  UAS SAR is the newest niche' of the search and rescue world and it is becoming more and more common with the use of "drones" with SAR incidents every years. With the introduction of the UAS (unmanned aerial systems; i.e. "drones") into the search process, a new group called aerial (or drone) pilots has emerged onto the scene and are being welcomed into the traditional SAR teams with time saving and life saving technologies and contributions they bring to the table. There are plenty of SAR groups out there, and even a lot of new UAS SAR groups are popping up all the time.  This web site is not another SAR or UAS SAR group or club ...this web site will be the "bible" or reference site for all things UAS SAR related. We welcome you and your SAR group to utilize this site and register yourselves as associates so that we share with you the latest news, education, information and SAR mission notification going on in your area. Bookmark this site; share it with your colleagues  ...and we welcome any and all contributions of info, suggestions, tips, etc. you can share with us to help improve the UAS SAR community. ~ Tim Gillespie / Ed Schrader  April 2018
